Macross: DYRL is a retelling of the original series Super Dimension Fortress Macross between episodes 6 to 27. It was directed by Shōji Kawamori and Noboru Ishiguro with a screeplay by Sukehiro Tomita. It was the greatest animated film of 1984 in Japan.
