As requested by @godzillakiryu91, A selection of the more bizarre concept art pieces for SpaceGodzilla. This also counts for Super Godzilla, as these first few designs were originally made for him.
These designs were originally used as concept art for Super Godzilla’s design in the SNES video game. You can certainly see aspects of the final design for both Super Godzilla and SpaceGodzilla in these, especially the second. Since the design of Super Godzilla was modified into Space Godzilla, it is only logical to think that Toho would have looked into these other designs as well.
These two are my favorites due to how bizarre they are. These were probably early designs, with the “Godzilla” aspect toned down in favor of the “crystalline life form” part of SpaceGodzilla.
The dorsal plate wings on this one remind me a lot of that line in Shin Godzilla where one of the characters speculate that Godzilla could grow wings and fly.
Ending this post off with another one of my favorites, this is a rather grotesque look that makes it seem like SpaceGodzilla is an imperfect clone of Godzilla. Or perhaps a more powerful one? I imagine this one would have had two actors in the suit, making it a treat to see on screen, but was likely cut due to how difficult it would have been to maneuver.
