Parts of an Italian Garniture from 1570

A garniture was an armour that included a number of extra, or ‘exchange’, pieces. These additional plates were used to convert the armour into several forms. The main variations being for cavalry, infantry and tournament use.

The leg and foot defenses are missing.

This is on display at the Burrell Collection in Glasgow.
