It’s been three years since I brought a feral tegu into my home. I didn’t know what to expect when I opened that box- would she be happy here? Could she learn to trust me?

I didn’t know I’d be getting a best friend when I opened that box, a beautiful, gentle, sweet, strange creature who put her trust in me just as I put my faith in her. Earning the trust of this lizard has been an amazing experience, and I don’t think I’ve ever loved anything as fiercely.

It’s been three years with Kaiju Elizabeth Tegu. Here’s hoping for many, many more.
