Most “evidence” against communism you hear comes from the Black Book of Communism, which is widely considered inaccurate by historians and even rejected by some of its sources. The author was sickly determined to get a death count as high as possible, counting even any unnatural death under communism as part of the toll. It’s used by fascists to make fascism look moral, and apparently by clueless liberals and even leftists who see the 100 million number and say “oh that’s leninists not me”.
Your defense should not be “capitalism killed more”, or “capitalism is worse”, you should actually challenge the propaganda at hand. THIS is how you get people questioning. No one believing in the Black Book of Communism is going to listen to you if you say capitalism killed more. They will get stuck if you point out what I just did, and what anyone with basic knowledge of history and the book itself can.
